Art Alive Exhibition 2022
Theme
The pandemic has forced everyone to wrestle with some of the biggest questions in life. At this year’s Word Alive conference, we are studying 2 Peter which addresses many of these big questions.
We would like to see how Christian artists engage with these big questions and the Bible through their art practices, so we have chosen a passage from 2 Peter for our artist to reflect on in their work.
2 Peter 3: 11-13
11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
This year’s exhibition will reflect on what kind of hope this passage provides even as we face turbulent times. Consider:
- What does this passage say about how we ought to live now? Does it bring a sense of despair or hope? Does it give us purpose?
Through the Art Alive Exhibition, we hope to provide a space for reflection that generates meaningful and thoughtful discourse between Christians in these areas.
